Counselling is a collaborative session between the therapist and the client. A professional counselor helps the client identify goals and solutions to problems that cause emotional turmoil in their lives. Counselors seek to improve communication, coping skills, and self-esteem, and change negative behavioral patterns of the client. The overall goal of the therapist is to improve the quality of life of the patient.
The initial session will be an initial assessment to discuss the client’s history and treatment needs. During this first session, the client will have the opportunity to see how therapy will work, review policies, privacy, and confidentiality, and determine whether they are comfortable with the therapist.
Extended insurance plans typically cover social work and psychotherapy services. Please check with your insurance provider on your benefits coverage to ensure social work services are covered. Direct billing is not available at this time; once payment is made for your session, a receipt will be provided to you, which you may submit to your insurance company for a claim.
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all scheduled sessions. If you cancel within less than 24 hours, you will be charged 50% of your session fee. For same-day cancellations or no-shows, you will be charged the full rate of the session.

Individual therapy sessions are $165 (HST included) and Couples and Family therapy sessions are $200 (HST included). Please be advised that we offer a sliding scale (lower fees) to those under financial hardship; we can discuss sliding scale rates during consultation.
The frequency with which you access therapy will depend on your needs. Although we initially encourage weekly or bi-weekly sessions, we explore what is best for you during the initial intake and work with what is most suitable for you.
Currently, we only provide individual counselling services to those 16 years of age and older.
